Infrastructure
1. Transportation
· The Road Network
The total length of the road network is of approx. 120 km. Roads of the second
technical category (with 4 strips) can be found only on 4 km, on the following
streets: 1 Decembrie 1918, Avram lancu and the transit road that starches
along the Petrosani- Tg. Jiu railway. The North -South line of the city is
made up of the: Fabricilor, Livezeni, 1 Decembrie 1918 streets. In front of
the stadium starts a new street that passes by Piata Victoriei continues on
Daranesti Street and goes on towards Hateg.
The access Road from Petrosani to Rusu chalet is
modernized. In the Parang area there are two roads: the interior one that
starts from Rusu cabin and goes to the ANEFS cabin and the road that follows
the line of Guniu peak. The neighboring roads of Petrosani need to be modernized
as well. The road Oradea - Deva - Petrosani - Targu Jiu - Craiova and the
East-West line that will connect Brezoi (Olt Valley) - Petrosani - Orsova
(Cerna Valley) need to be updated.
· The
Railway Network. The North - South railway
line that ties Transylvania of Oltenia, through Jiu Valley (Simeria - Petrosani
- Târgu Jiu - Filiasi) crosses Petrosani. The railway Petrosani - Simeria
railway links the former with the main Transylvanian cities (Deva, Arad, Cluj).
· Aerial
Transportation. The closest national airports
are at Caransebes and Sibiu. A new airport is going to be built between Deva
and Alba lulia. The aforementioned project is important for the zone's accessibility.
2. Telecommunications
The telephonic cables are aerial and underground, following
the lines of the city's streets. The automatic dispatcher is type 7D and has
a capacity of 5,000 telephonic lines. The dispatcher is in the post office building.
GSM telephony services are provided by CONNEX and DIALOG. In the future, Petrosani
is going to be included in the optic fiber circuit.
3. Technical infrastructure
· Water
Network. The water system is centralized. The
system has two zonal sub-systems: East Jiu and West Jiu. The surface water sources
are: Valea de Pesti River, Taia River and Jiet River. The underground water
is taken from the Jiet aquifer layer. The latter is located before the Jiet
gorge. The treatment, transportation and storage of the water are done separately
for each of the sources mentioned above. The distribution network is ring shaped
and its length is of 70 km. The temporary water shortages as well as the low
pressures that occur during high consumption hours take place due to East Jiu
and West Jiu zonal systems deficiencies as well as to the inadequate storage
capacity of Petrosani reservoirs.
· Natural
Gas Network. The natural gas network is still
under construction. In 01.01.2001 the length of the distribution network was
of 18.5 km of which 12.5 km in Aeroport neighborhood and 6 km in Carpati neighborhood.
The network provided gas for 2,878 homes for domestic use and 62 homes for heating
and domestic use.
· Electrical
Power Network. The National Energetic System
supplies power to Petrosani through 6 conversion stations:
- Petrila Conversion station 110/20/6 kilowatts
- CFR Conversion station 110/27 kilowatts
- Dâlja Center Conversion station 110/20/6 kilowatts
- Livezeni Conversion station 110/20/6 kilowatts
- Petrosani South Conversion station 110/6 kilowatts
- UPSRUEEM Livezeni Conversion station 110/20 kilowatts
- The power network has: aerial and underground,
medium tension lines (20 and 6 kilowatts); medium tension conversion stations
and a low tension, aerial and underground net. The public lighting network is
powered through a low tension net that has a common path with the one for private
consumption. The electric power consumption of the entire city is of 25 Megawatts.
· Thermo
energy distribution network. Petrosani receives
thermo energy from the SE Paroseni plant through 31 thermo points. Out of the
aforementioned, all the homes and social-cultural establishments receive hot
water and heath. The thermo energy network is mostly underground, together with
all the other subterraneous networks. Nevertheless, some of the pipelines are
above ground level, mounted on scaffolds.
· Sewer
Network. The collection of sewage is done using
a main collector sewer that comes from Petrila, goes across Petrosani and flows
in the water treatment plant in Livezeni. The smaller sewer systems flow in
the main collector. The total length of the sewer systems is of 55.6 km.
