Infrastructure
Water
The river East Jiu on the route crossing Petrila is regulated and dyked on both
shores. Because of the flood period in the years 1998-1999, there are presently
under development a series of dyking activities on the East Jiu and its main
affluents (Taia and Jiet, meeting each other on the town's territory).
The potable water is taken from the following sources:
The reservoir on Taia creek. The reservoir is 2 x 1500 sm, and takes its water
from surface sources.
The reservoir on Jiet. The reservoir is 2 x 500 sm, and takes its water from
surface sources.
The reservoir in Lunca Jietii Noi. The reservoir is 2 x 500 sm, and it takes
its water from underground sources. ( wells)
The distribution Network
· In Petrila the distribution Network is supplied from the reservoir
of 2x1500 mc (Taia) and by the reservoir of 2x500 mc from the cemetery area
the conducting pipes (with diameters Dn 200, 250, 300 mm) supply the existing
reservoirs: 1x1500 mc Lonea (through the pipe Dn 250), the reservoirs 2x1500
mc Petrila (through the pipe Dn 300) and the reservoirs 2 x 500 mc Petrila from
the cemetery area.
Between the years 1999-2000 it has been worked on the rentability
of the water distribution network from Petrila, R.A.A.V.J. having a credit from
the World Bank for the modernizing and development of the water supplying system.
The Sewer System
Out of the five towns that compose the administrative domain
of the Petrila municipality, Petrila is the only one with a sewer system. The
sewer network flows into the main pipeline that has a diameter of 500 mm. The
water is than taken to Denutoni Petrosani depuration center, and than it flows
in the East Jiu. Rain water collected and transported through the network are
being dumped in the Jiu. The existing canals have diameters D 250 and 300 mm,
the collectors D 300 mm.
Dumping rain water into the East Jiu is being done near
the bridge at the entrance in E.M.Petrila.
There are also some difficulties about seweragem, like:
· the overdued capacity of the epuration station
· the networks are under-dimenssioned, (colmatate) and highly worn-out
Electric Energy
The FERO Petrila station insures the city's necessary electric energy. The station
(110/20/6 KV) is in the Southwest of the town, on the left shore of the East
Jiu and is linked to the national energetic system (SEN) by LEA 110 KV.
Electrical energy distribution in the town is assured through the transformation
posts supplied radial or curled on average tension through underground or air
electrical lines covering for the moment the necessary electrical energy.
Energy consumers are divised into:
· industrial consumers, supplied through thei own transformation posts;
· tertiar consumers, supplied through the low tension network (radial
connection);
· individual household or in living blocks and un-industrial consumers
supplied from the low tension network.
The most important energy consumers are the mining enterprises
(EM Lonea, EM Petrila and the Petrila Preparation).
Public lighting is done with incandescent lighting bulbs mounted on posts (made
of armed concrete).
The villages that are part of the city are connected to
the same power lines with the rest of the city. The high and average tension
lines have their routes on hay fields and approach living areas and buildings
at the distances allowed by the law.
Natural Gas
Natural gas supplying is in course of execution, its route being on the drawing
board for technical-town networks, according to the project elaborated by S.R.L.
Deva.
